We are Leader
In the film, you will gain an understanding of what Leader Sweden is, inspiration from various projects that have been driven thanks to Leader funds, and perhaps ideas on how you can become part of the Leader story!
What is your idea to contribute to positive rural development?
Apply for support for your project idea with us!
The first step to apply for support with us is to submit an expression of interest. When applying for support, you go through four steps. On our page ”How it works,” there is more information about each step. In October 2024, we changed our project process, so make sure you are fully updated!
This is how it goes
Get started
To shape a successful project, it is important that there are local drivers and that it is based on the needs of your area. The first step is to read about our areas of focus, talk to your local community and shape your project idea.
Test your idea
Once you have shaped your idea into a project, you can test it against our checklist. Using it, you can check and see if your project can become a leader project.
Expression of interest
If your idea fits all points in our checklist, it is time to move forward and submit an expression of interest. Write a first draft and contact the operations office to discuss your idea
Application
If our board assesses that your expression of interest has the potential to be granted support, it is now time to make a formal application to the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
Focus areas
Attractive rural areas
Our leader area will work sustainably towards four goals that will contribute to making the area's rural areas even more attractive for residents, visitors, and businesses. Projects that are granted support by the leader area fall within four focus areas that will contribute to achieving the goals:
- Sustainable and attractive living environments
- Sustainable and innovative business development
- Sustainable civil society and idea-driven sector
- Innovative and sustainable rural areas
What is the Leader method?
Local development by local residents
Leader is a method where the private, non-profit, and public sectors work together to contribute to local development. The method is used throughout the EU and is based on the idea that local development is carried out most effectively and sustainably by those who live and operate in an area.
