Idea Kingdom Umeå Region 2030 is the name of our leader area and we will conduct development work in the Umeå region during the EU program period 2023-2027. With the help of a leader area, associations, organizations, and companies can engage in local development and apply for financial support for projects.
Idea Kingdom Umeå Region 2030
We are one of 40 areas in Sweden that have been given the opportunity to form a leader area. This means that we can conduct development work in the rural areas of the Umeå region during the EU program period 2023-2027.
Our area consists of the municipalities of Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Vindeln, Vännäs, Robertsfors, and Umeå, excluding Umeå city. With the help of a leader area, associations, organizations, and companies can engage in local development and apply for financial support for projects.
The work to become a leader area
During 2021-2022 the non-profit association Idea Kingdom Umeå Region 2030 worked on an application to the Swedish Board of Agriculture to form a leader area. The association worked together with the municipalities of the Umeå region and other actors in the non-profit, private, and public sectors on the application. It included, among other things, a local development strategy that shows what needs and opportunities exist in the rural areas of the Umeå region. Nearly 300 people from the non-profit, private, and public sectors participated in shaping the strategy.
