A hiking trail project at Storklubben

Pilot Trail – a new project at Idériket

On Wednesday, February 5, the board of Leader Idériket Umeåregionen 2030 approved a new project in the Umeå region. The project, called Lotsleden, will enrich the Umeå region's rural areas in various ways and create more attractive, sustainable and inspiring places locally and regionally.

With a budget of approximately SEK 28 million between 2023 - 2027, the rural areas of the Umeå region will be developed innovatively with projects that are permeated with sustainability, inclusion, new thinking and smart solutions.

The project that was approved by the board must also go through processing by the Swedish Board of Agriculture before it is given the green light to begin.

Focus area 1

Pilot trail

Where the Järnäshalvön borders the sea, the border of Örefjärden – Snöanskärgården Nature Reserve also runs. Here there are both valuable cultural and natural environments. At Tjäruskärskajen, Kråken, the Öreälvsleden ends. There it is intended that the Pilots' Trail will take over and lead hikers and cyclists across the Järnäshalvön towards Storklubben. In 2025 it will be 300 years since the first Pilot was stationed at Storklubben. There is a vision from the applicant for a continuation from Storklubben to Nordmaling and further to connect the Pilots' Trail with the Lögdeälvsleden.

The project aims to get people moving, a vibrant countryside where more people want to stay, live and work. Give visitors a nature and cultural experience and connect existing places and trails with each other.
