Four new projects approved!

Bragging news with faith in the future

Spring comes with faith in the future and development

On March 18, the board of Leader Idériket Umeåregionen 2030 approved 4 new projects. These will enrich the rural areas of the Umeå region in various ways and create more attractive, sustainable, and inspiring places locally, regionally, nationally, and transnationally!

With a budget of approximately SEK 28 million between 2023 - 2027, the rural areas of the Umeå region will be developed innovatively with projects that are permeated with sustainability, inclusion, new thinking and smart solutions.

The projects that were approved on March 18 by the board must, before the final start notice, also go through processing by the Swedish Board of Agriculture before it is completely green light to begin.

The 4 projects that were approved are as follows:

Focus area 1

The House of Crafts 2.0
The project aims to further develop the visitor destination The House of Crafts through investments that enable a broader range and create better conditions for receiving visitors. Planned measures aim to strengthen both accessibility and operations year-round.
A weather-secured visitor destination for all days
The project intends to build a weather-safe and accessible family exhibition in the building Saw Mill at Norrbyskär. The project will also result in energy-efficient heating solutions in both the museum's main building and the new exhibition space. The purpose is to extend the season, increase accessibility, and create a sustainable visitor destination year-round.
The glass veranda in Öre
The project will rebuild the previously demolished glass veranda on the 19th-century house where the bakery/mill/café Öre Kvarn and Bakery is located. The extension allows for an expansion of service and contributes to handling more customers and a better customer flow.
