Leader and the Kingdom of Ideas
Leader is a French abbreviation for locally led development. It is an EU initiative where 60 areas in Sweden receive funds to distribute for rural development. The projects will be implemented using the ”Leader method”, which involves private, public and non-profit sectors making joint development investments. Our Leader area is called Ideriket and includes the municipalities of Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Vindeln, Vännäs, Robertsfors and Umeå (excluding the city of Umeå).
The realm of ideas will conduct development work in the Umeå region during the EU program period 2023-2027 and has approximately 30 million SEK to distribute to various initiatives. The initiatives will support the implementation of the strategy that has been developed. In short, the strategy is about sustainably developing attractive places, an innovative business community, a strong idea-driven sector and driving sustainable change. The strategy identifies young people and other underrepresented groups as special target groups to work to reach. (Read more on the website)
